The London Motor Show

The London Motor Show

The British International Motor Show is to be held this year at ExCeL London from 23 July - 3 August 2008. The event is sponsored by Zurich Connect and is held at ExCel every two years. ExCeL is London's premier venue and the largest purpose built events, exhibitions and conference venue. ExCeL London is based just 10 minutes from Canary Wharf on the Jubilee Line in London's Docklands. Why not book a stay at Georgian House Hotel when you visit The Motor Show?

The motor show has something for everyone from car enthusiasts to families and children looking for a fun day out. The show has over six hundred cars, 60 car marquees, plenty of global premieres and interactive features.

The Motor Show this year is open 10.00 to 9.00 p.m weekdays and 10.00 to 8.00 pm weekends, apart from the final Sunday where it closes at 6.00 pm. Tuesday 22nd is press only and Wednesday 23rd is the VIP Preview Day. The first day is always very popular at the Motor show. There are only a limited number of tickets on sale for 1st day - 25,000 compared to 50,000 on normal days. The 1st day will give you the chance to experience unveilings of new cars and global premieres. There are also celebrities and you will have a chance to try out the feature areas without the queues.

Events at the Motor Show

Some of the show features at the Motor show include:

  • Heritage Enclosure - The Heritage Enclosure showcases the history of the car over the past 50 years at the Motor Show.
  • The Marine Experience - National Boat Shows this year will present The Marine Experience at the British International Motor Show. There is a marina spanning over a quarter of a mile where you can board a wide variety of boats. You also have the chance to experience the excitement of being out on the water via the popular Try-a-Boat attraction - all for free. Royal Victoria Dock will play host to a number of on-water activities during the course of the Show, from high speed demonstrations to live racing action.
  • The Motor Show Music Festival - The 'Honda Theatre of Dreams' Arena turns into the 'Motor Show Music Festival' where 12 nights of live music concerts start at 9pm. When you buy a ticket to a Motor Show Music Festival concert you get free entry to The Motor Show on the same day.
  • Land Rover's Ultimate Experience - For those that want to experience the capabilities of a new Land Rover, then the Land Rover ‘Ultimate Experience’ zone is the area to visit. Land Rover’s are driven by specialist instructors and take part in a gravity defying climb up a 10 metre high mountain. They negotiate treacherous side slopes and hair-raising descents or you can drive yourself on the‘mini’ terrapod off-road course in the latest Land Rover product.
  • Mazda Zoom-Zoom Challenge – the Zoom-Zoom Challenge will allow over 5,000 people to get behind the wheel of Mazda’s cars, at no charge, to experience the cars.
